So Jake is the Explorer of Magic, a role that "allows for the sharing of non-Game abilities between those the Hero has bonds with, with length, strength, etc tied to both how high up the ladder the Hero is and how strong the relationship is."
The long version of of this is his Aspect is that of Magic, or the element of friendship- but based more on the troll version of the concept, where it's both friend-enemies and friend-friends. This aspect is all about bonds between people, and both drawing strength from them as well as giving strength. The stronger the bond(s), the more powerful an ability that can be shared and to the greater number of people for the longer amount of time. With a strong enough bond a lower level Hero could share an ability a higher level player couldn't, if they were too isolated from others.
When it comes to sharing abilities with others, the Hero's bond with those they're sharing with also matter. If person A is best friend with the Hero, but person B barely knows them, and the Hero isn't high enough in their ladder, this will affect the Hero's capacity to share the ability.
The Title part of this role is Explorer, or the role of investigating. The Hero must grasp the concepts of the abilities they use, not having full mastery but knowing enough to make use of it. For example knowing enough about the martial arts and concepts behind firebending to share that ability, but with languages already understanding enough to not have that as a roadblock.
SO WHERE DO YOU COME IN?
I need your input on What Jake can pick up from your character. The more they care about an ability the sooner he'll pick it up, and the more powerful the ability the longer it'll take to pick up. It's up to you what is and isn't fair game, and remember stuff like speaking a language, being good at cooking, etc are just as much skills as blowing stuff up. And if there is any additional notes I need to know about the ability/skill please share that too!
And don't worry too much about "At lvl 77 he'll get THIS to play with" as I'm sure this is mostly gonna be ballparking it :B
TR;DR
If your character has strong CR with Jake or likely to get strong CR, either of the negative or positive kind, it would be very appreciated if you could comment here with what non-game abilities and/or skills he can use from your character. The more they value the ability, the sooner he would get it, BUT how powerful it is also comes into this. The more powerful the ability, the later Jake would get it. No Sparking people first thing, thankfully.

Erm. I think he could channel magical energy but wouldn't know how to direct it - so like when Harry would get mad/scared/what have you and magic would just make stuff happen around him, like disappearing glass on a snake's tank or blowing up his aunt, Jake could do that sort of stuff.
If they figure out that it's happening, he could get a copy of Sirius's wand and learn some spells?
OR, ALSO: he could get his animagus on?

Date: 2012-12-03 04:26 am (UTC)Ooooooooooooh that is a fun thought :o I'd have it as something rather high up, but all the hijinx you could have *_* Stuff with people transforming into what their animagus is vs all dogs.
Jake is gonna have a lot of fun with this once he actually works out wtf he's doing |D So far he figured out he learned flash stepping on his own, and I still need to work out with Kaoru what he's picking up from her. Starting small but he IS starting to get up there with the whole being here six months, just needs more group questing to help him lvl better.

(alternately i THINK her magical abilities would translate into a reinforcement of any spells he gets, given that her own abilities can only currently be channeled through the staff of one and there's only one of those atm :) :) :) but again, the only way they're getting cr is he bothers her lol)

lol we'll see with Nico, he's not Gentaro or Hobbes, but he's quite willing to throw himself at people. And she doesn't creep him out like Misaya does.

Date: 2012-12-09 09:41 pm (UTC)She has other minor abilities in the other elements, so he might pick up the ability to light a fire or cause a mini-earthquake or send a powerful gust of wind in a chosen direction or create a blinding flash of light/cloud of darkness.
Combined spells like what's needed to cause an isolated hailstorm or accelerate plant growth are really high-level and he would have to be very close to Madame, indeed, to acquire the ability to use them.

girlboy, so Usagi can't give him that, so we'll settle for her other "powers." Congratulations, Jake, you are now capable of consuming more food than any one human should be capable of. Also, you will find that you can weep more tears than a human should either and possibly your wailing can be used as a sonic weapon.(As far as Karkat goes, Jake will find himself getting more organized and gain the ability to yell really loud?)

Interesting in that I am already thinking of both how he'll react, and if like say.. he ever has Saionji use this power.
